USE CASES — EVENTS & WORKSHOPS

Yurts for events, workshops & retreats

Handcrafted timber yurts that turn any gathering into something memorable. From small weekend retreats to large festival venues, our yurts give events a warm, atmospheric home — installed anywhere in Ireland.

An event venue people remember

There is something about stepping into a yurt that changes the feel of a day. The circular timber frame draws people together, the natural acoustics warm up music and conversation, and the canvas walls glow beautifully at dusk.

Yurts are used across Ireland for weddings, festival bars, woodland workshops, corporate away days, supper clubs, sound baths, family celebrations and weekend retreats. They’re especially well suited to outdoor settings where a marquee feels too cold and a building feels too closed in.

Each yurt is handcrafted in our Bantry workshop from sustainably sourced timber, sheep’s wool insulation and high-grade Regentex canvas. They’re built to work all year round in Irish weather and installed in a single day on almost any reasonably level surface.

Whether you’re a festival operator looking for a signature stage, a wedding venue looking for a beautiful ceremony space, or a retreat host who needs a venue your guests will enjoy and remember, we’ll help you size and specify the right yurt for the way you want to use it.

Why event hosts choose a yurt

A handful of practical reasons to choose yurts for your events.

Year-round, Irish weather ready

Insulated with sheep's wool, sealed with waterproof Regentex canvas and warmed by an optional wood-burning stove — a Celtic Yurt holds an event in February as comfortably as one in August.

Atmosphere out of the box

The exposed timber frame, the crown wheel at the top and the soft canvas glow lit from inside make every event photograph-ready. No decor required.

Fast install, easy site

Yurts go up in a single day, on almost any reasonably level ground — fields, woodland clearings, gardens, paved courtyards. No planning permission required for short-term installs.

Warm sound for music & talks

The circular shape and wool-insulated walls give a warmer, more intimate acoustic than a square room or marquee — perfect for live music, sound baths, ceremonies and group workshops.

What size yurt do I need?

7 metre

Up to 25 guests seated, 35 standing.

Ideal for intimate suppers, sound baths, small workshops, ceremonies and bridal parties. Comfortable for a circle of 15-20 chairs with room for a low table or instruments in the middle.

Up to 40 guests seated, 55 standing.

The sweet spot for most events. Big enough for a yoga class of 20, a wedding ceremony, a workshop with breakouts, or a festival bar — and small enough to feel intimate.

10 metre

Up to 70 guests seated, 100 standing.

Our largest standard size. Used for big retreats, festival stages, full-scale weddings and dance workshops. Tall central crown gives plenty of headroom for lifts, partnerwork and aerial silks.

Common questions

Do I need planning permission?

For short-term event installations no planning permission is required. For permanent yurts used as a venue, planning rules vary by county and use class.

How quickly can a yurt go up?

A single yurt is typically installed in one day. Larger setups with platforms, multiple yurts or extras like wood stoves and lighting will take a few days. We coordinate the build with your event schedule.

Can the yurt run in winter?

Yes. Our optional extras include full sheep’s wool insulation and high-spec foil insulation. With a wood-burning stove fitted, yurts comfortably hold heat through Irish winters — many of our customers run weekly workshops or retreats year-round.

Can I move the yurt to a new site?

Yes — the timber frame, canvas and crown all come apart cleanly and pack down for transport. Most operators move their yurt once or twice in its lifetime; some festival operators move all season long and store the yurt over winter.

What does an event yurt cost?
It depends on size, doors, windows, insulation and install. Use the quote builder to get a transparent breakdown in about 60 seconds — including delivery and installation. Most event-ready 8m yurts land in the €18,000–€25,000 range.
