OUR TIMBER
Our Timber- We source the timber for our wooden frames from our local sawmill. The roof poles and wall trellises are made from Irish Douglas fir or White Spruce imported from Finland, and the doors and door frames are made from a high quality Red Pine imported from Sweden. We stress test every piece we use to ensure your yurt is free from any defects. All timber comes from forests managed in accordance with strict environmental standards and is certified by the FSC.
OUR CROWNS
The crown of the yurt is the central ring which all of the roof poles fit into. We make these to a traditional Mongolian design using high quality hardwood faced plywood. They are glued, bolted and laminated together to form a 60 mm thick solid ring which can be painted any colour you choose, just let us know your preference.
OUR DOORS
All our yurts come as standard with beautifully crafted, exterior opening, French doors or Dutch style cottage half doors built into heavy wooden frames.
They are carefully and slowly hand built in our workshop in West Cork from selected high quality sustainable Timbers. You can choose between Swedish Red Pine, Irish Fir or Larch or even European Oak.
We use a time honoured traditional board and batten design.

OUR CANVAS
We use a high quality canvas fabric called Regentex for our outer roof and wall coverings. Regentex is specifically designed as an architectural fabric that doesn’t stretch under tension. It’s a 52% / 48% polyester and cotton blended fabric, which combines the strength of polyester with the breathability of cotton. Regentex is a waterproof fabric that has been treated to be fire retardant as well as mould and rot resistant. We believe it to be the best product available for Irish climates. Various colours are available, including white, khaki, sand, green, blue, brown and burgundy.
OUR WOOL FELT INSULATION
This product is made from 100% sheep’s wool, which provides excellent thermal insulation and is naturally fire resistant. The wool is tightly needled onto a strong scrim which gives strength to the fabric. It is a more natural and traditional product. It’s also very heavy and bulky to store, which can be an issue if you’re moving or taking down your yurt regularly.
OUR FOIL INSULATION
Our foil iinsulation is a high quality Low E product. It works by reflecting heat and moisture, reducing draughts and increasing thermal performance by blocking up to 97% of radiant heat. It is made from recycled materials and is completely non-toxic. It’s also light, efficient and easy to use. The trade off is that it can trap some condensation inside the yurt.
